The sea of Suzu rises up in the atrium of KAAT.
The short film "Sea of Afterglow," filmed between 2020 and 2024, will be screened. New footage of the seabed uplifted by the Noto Peninsula earthquake has been added. The seemingly unchanging sea and the ebb and flow of time on the land. Short films from the "Suzu Theater Museum" will also be presented.

This video installation, presented in the KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre Atrium—an urban public space—presents a temporal cross-section of the sea around Suzu. *Sea of Afterglow* is a re-edited compilation of ocean footage filmed continuously since 2020, drawing on the artist’s participation in the Oku-Noto Triennale and curatorial practice at the “Suzu Theater Museum.” The January 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake caused the seabed to rise, making the topography itself visible—an event that served as a pivotal moment in revealing geological time, distinct from the temporal scale of human life. By superimposing footage from before and after the earthquake, this work brings to light the discontinuities and continuities lurking within a landscape that appears to be enduring. Additionally, the short film *Suzu Theater Museum*, screened alongside it, introduces an attempt to reorganize regional memory through the collection, preservation, and exhibition of folk artifacts. The installation is designed to temporarily summon the long timescales of the sea and the land into the atrium, a transitional space.
